Adapting to Online Teaching and Training
The traditional classroom experience of being physically present is no longer the only learning option. Online learning has been on the rise in recent years due to COVID and the rise of the internet, accessibility, and new technologies. Students, and especially virtual students, are multi-tasking between coursework, work commitments, and personal responsibilities.
The session content that you present in a classroom may not translate to online delivery. Your online teaching will require course redesign and re-thinking how you present content – both coursework and activities. It takes time to create efficient session plans and a running sheet to map out each session that you present online.
The course covers four main key topics:
1. Teaching/Training in an Online Environment
2. The Stages of Online Teaching/Training
- Stage 1 - Planning the Session/Program
- Stage 2 - Facilitating the Session
- Stage 3 – Closing the Session
3. Building a Strong Online Student Community
4. Reflecting on Teaching Online and Improving Your Practice
